I made a boat motor for my canoe out of a craftsman string trimmer. This thing is awesome!

I love american ingenuity!
Purrs like a kitten lol.
Like I say the my nephew(we use a trolling motor and we go slow ) its better than paddling
That is sick dude…would u rather use a weed wacker or a leaf blower
Nice job I was thinking of doing something like that. Now I think I will. Check out my channel your se a couple lil projects
Just wondering if you used a clutch or clutchless line trimmer?
Just making a suggestion here, but what I did with my weed eater boat motor is took off the muffler, made a coupling that would fit the exhaust outlet on the cylinder head, put a steel 90 degree fitting to direct it down. Then I drilled a hole in the plastic that encases the engine. lastly I continued on from the downward pointing 90 about 7.5 inches; put on another 90 facing left. I continued down the shaft until the pipe was about 3 inches from the prop. (under water)
Quiets it down alot!
Well the dog looks happy.
I wouldn’t know the thrust, maybe around 30lbs. Its less powerfull than my 40lbs thrust minn-kota, but close.
How many pound thrust you think it is. Or would you say its a 1/4 horse power? Trying to get a better feel for what it can do,
Thanks for shareing.
Good dog, my dog and a weedeater…..not so good!
Use an RC bronze prop. they use Weed-Eater motors all the time in RC boats..
Good work on the outboard. Your labbie seemed impressed, too. : )
All you need to do is get a slightly smaller prop or less pitch to the prop
a weedeater is a great idea for a motor it’s easy to use and cheaper to buy think of how much money you’ll save and it’s country ghetto i love it who ever came up with this idea brilliant
Question will this work on a 12ft. jon boat that has a semi-v hull??? i dont want to pay $1,000 for a 2.5 – 5 HP engine for it considering that it is just gonna be to play around in the water
Not at all. Tiny little lake in Greenup county, KY named Greenbo. Please hold the redneck jokes. The lake is restricted to “idle speed” or no wake because it gets crowded and is not very large. This engine works perfectly for this lake.
lake copachuk? next to lake cushman?
woops, the main point of my comment should have been that it looked exactly like this ’30s panel boat. Probably made of the same woods and everything.
Wow, I had a toy boat about 1 1/2 foot long and maybe 6inches wide that ran on something like 6 C batteries or some such. I think I played with it 5 years in a row imagining I was a yacht captain or something. hehehehe
thanks for bringing back all those memories.
how much power
